Director of Hazardous Materials Programs, CVSA
Bill Reese began his career with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) in January 2017, as the Director of Hazardous Materials Programs. He spent over 30 years with the Idaho State Police (ISP), retiring in December 2016 as an Operations Major.
Bill spent over 26 years working in ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Safety division in various capacities. While working for the ISP, he was actively involved with CVSA committees and programs, including serving on the Hazardous Materials and Training committees.
He is a past chair of the Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development (COHMED) Program and the Level VI (Radioactive Material Inspection) Program. Bill served as CVSA President in 2014 and 2015. He was actively involved with the Western Governors’ Association WIPP Technical Advisory Group, the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, the Western States Transportation Alliance, the Transportation Research Boards Hazardous Materials Cooperative Research Program and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administrations Lithium Battery Air Safety Advisory Committee. Bill is a 2005 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and a 2012 graduate of the FBI National Academy.
