Coordinator, Drive Safe Missoula
Steve "Schmidty" Schmidt, originally from Malta, Montana, has worn many hats throughout his career. He served as a police officer in Kansas City, Missouri while simultaneously working as a professional mascot. He has also been a Firefighter/EMT and has a background in sales, marketing, graphic design, video production and consulting. Currently, he coordinates Drive Safe Missoula, focusing on DUI prevention and occupant protection and is starting a professional training business called EnhancedXP. He speaks nationally on using AI to influence behavior in traffic safety and substance use disorders. He lives in Missoula, Montana with his partner, Dr. Leanne Beers, and has two adult children. His daughter is a 4 & 5th grade special education teacher & his son is a firefighter/paramedic and fellow Child Passenger Safety Tech (CPST).
