Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Market Access and Industrial Competitiveness, USTR
Justin Hoffmann is the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Market Access and Industrial Competitiveness at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Executive Office of the President.
In this role, he is responsible for the formulation and implementation of U.S. trade policy affecting a number of key industrial sectors, including automotive goods, critical minerals, and machinery. Justin leads the United States’ efforts to implement, enforce, and verify the automotive rules of origin under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). He also leads U.S. negotiations to increase market access for U.S. industrial goods exports to overseas markets through the elimination of tariffs and non-tariff barriers.
Previously, Justin served as a Director for Industrial Goods at USTR and before that, he served in trade policy positions at the U.S. Department of Commerce and at a Washington, D.C. economic consulting firm. Originally from Western Pennsylvania, he received an M.A. in international economic relations and a B.A. in international studies and economics from American University.
