As the eyes and ears of our nation’s roadways and transportation systems, CMV drivers and other workers within the industry remain well positioned to disrupt the pathways of human trafficking – this session provides an opportunity to learn what you and your company can do to protect individuals and communities where you live and work.

Background

Since its inception in 2009, Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a nonprofit advocacy organization, has played a key role in the fight against human trafficking by engaging not only truck drivers but all sectors of the transportation industry. TAT has diligently worked to invite more organizations, agencies, and associations to join its mission. TAT leveraged a natural a partnership between trucking and law enforcement, both of whom regularly traverse our nation’s highways and willing to commit to fighting trafficking once shown the intersections between their daily operations and human trafficking. As allies in this endeavor, the trucking industry and law enforcement found success, quickly realizing the significant potential for galvanizing trained transportation professionals across North America. TAT has also engaged the transportation industry more holistically, discovered the intersections between trafficking and its various segments and created pathways for leveraging greater portions of it towards fighting trafficking.
